Controversial self-styled godman and former 'Bigg Boss' contestant Om Swami was beaten up by an angry mob in public in the premises of Supreme Court on August 22 following the verdict on triple talaq.
The incident occurred after India's Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that the controversial Muslim divorce law was 'unconstitutional', a decision that could herald the end of a law that Muslim women had long argued violated their right to equality.
While many across the country hailed the judgment, Om Swami and his supporters reportedly opposed it. According to media reports, Om Swami was at the Supreme Court premises at the time of the verdict. He spoke against the judgment and reportedly said that it will curb men's freedom.
Om Swami's statement angered the crowd gathered at the apex court and they thrashed him and his supporters in public.

Earlier this month, Om Swami was arrested in a case filed by his brother who had accused the former Bigg Boss contestant of stealing bicycles along with some documents from his shop nine years ago.
