Aamir Khan’s Dangal is now continuing to break and set new records with every passing day. After an extraordinary weekend of Rs. 106.95 crore, the film held on quite well on Monday too to score Rs. 25.48 crore. With this, the film has now touched Rs. 132.43 crore and in the process, it has found a place amongst the top grossers of 2016 already. Considering the fact that these are just the four day collections for the Nitesh Tiwari directed film, this feat is mind-blowing by all means and sets the stage for many more records to be tumbled.

This is how the film stands when compared to the lifetime total of other biggies:

Sultan – Rs. 301.5 crore

M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story – Rs. 133.5 crore

Dangal – Rs. 132.43 crore (4 days collections)

Airlift – Rs. 129 crore

Rustom – Rs. 128 crore

The film has gone past all other 100 crore films in a jiffy, what with lifetime numbers of the following films tumbled already:

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Rs. 112.5 crore

Housefull 3 – Rs. 109 crore

Shivaay – Rs. 100.3 crore

By this morning, M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story would be history as well and the film would emerge as the second highest grosser of 2016 in 5 days flat. This sets the films apart from all competition whatsoever and the race would then begin for the top slot against Salman Khan’s Sultan, which scored a triple century.

The numbers so far also say a big deal around how only two films have actually emerged as true Blockbusters in a year that has seen 100 odd releases.
